Chelsea could offload a number of players as they look to get a transfer done this summer.

Chelsea are said to be ready to sanction sales that will help fund their spending this summer. The Blues are likely to spend significantly this summer as they look to bridge the gap between themselves and champions Liverpool, while they also need to step up the standard to compete properly in next season’s Champions League.

Enzo Maresca will want to improve his squad in a number of areas, with a goalkeeper, centre-back and winger the main priorities, while another striker could be added to the capture of Liam Delap over the coming weeks. The goalkeeper situation has made plenty of attention over the last week or so, with Chelsea making serious attempts to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but they fell short ahead of Tuesday night’s early transfer deadline.

The Blues could yet make a fresh move for the France international, but the situation will go on hold while Maresca and his men concentrate on the FIFA Club World in the United States. In the meantime, the club will continue to exact their transfer strategy, and we are likely to see departures from Stamford Bridge, albeit any deals done over the coming weeks won’t become official until the window reopens.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Chelsea are now looking to sell three goalkeepers, with Maresca wanting a reset in the goalkeeper department. Bailey told CaughtOffside: “This talk of Chelsea having full faith in their five goalkeepers because we can throw Kepa into this as well. There really is no faith from Enzo Maresca in this at all. Of those five, Enzo Maresca doesn’t want any of them. Robert Sanchez has been told he can leave.

“Djordje Petrovic has been told he can leave and there’s interest from Nice. There’s quite a bit of interest in France in him. No shock given the season he just had.”

Kepa Arrizabalaga is said to carry a £5million asking price, while Robert Sanchez is valued at £16.9million by Transfermarkt, and Petrovic is valued at the same amount. That could hand Chelsea as much as £38.8million if they get the value of the latter two and the relatively small asking price for the former.

Gittens boost

That money could prove very useful as Chelsea look to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens this summer. The Blues have the money to finance the deal, and they even have the Profit and Sustainability space to pull off a deal, but the incoming money could make all the difference given Chelsea are reportedly coming up short with their attempts.

According to ESPN, Chelsea have had a £37million offer rejected by Dortmund, and they will have to up their offer to get the 20-year-old winger. The report claims the Blues had already upped their bid, but Dortmund are said to believe there will be more interest later in the summer, and for that reason, they think they can get more for their young talent. Chelsea need to up their offer, and the aforementioned keeper sales could help.
