Nasser Al-Khelaifi doesn’t ‘regret’ Kylian Mbappé’s PSG departure

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said that he does “not regret” Kylian Mbappé’s (26) departure from the club.

Mbappé was the final player of the Galactico era to depart the club. He did so on a free transfer after he ran down his contract, signing a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid. It was thought that his exit would hinder PSG’s quest to win the UEFA Champions League. Ultimately, however, they won it without him at the first time of asking.

“I don’t have any regrets [about Mbappé leaving],” Al-Khelaifi told C à Vous, a show on France Télévisions. He added, “I thank Kylian [and] Messi, Neymar, Zlatan. They have all been very important for the club. We were lucky this year, without Kylian, but I wish him all the best for the future at Real Madrid, so long as he’s not playing against us.”

Despite the comments, PSG and Mbappé remain in a legal dispute regarding unpaid wages and bonuses amounting to €55m. The process was started upon the France captain’s departure last summer, with the final months of his wage going unpaid.
