Aaron Acquisition Gives Major Boost to Perennial Playoff Attendees Pittsburgh

Rodgers began his journey in Green Bay in 2005, when he was drafted 24th overall. Fast forward to June 2025, he's a 2011 Super Bowl champion, has played 248 times, appeared in ten Pro Bowls, and has featured in four All-Pro selections.

An undeniable induction into the Hall of Fame awaits; before that, a last hurrah in Pittsburgh, ultimately snubbing returning hopeful Mason Rudolph of the starting job at quarterback.

Rodgers, who signed a one-year deal worth $13.6 million, will aim to make it three consecutive appearances in the playoffs for Mike Tomlin's side.

Still, who will be playing alongside the 41-year-old remains a question unanswered, with plenty of offseason movement on offence. Below is a prediction for how the Steelers could line up in 2025, as Aaron Rodgers bids to make the final chapter in his story a memorable one.

Quarterback - Aaron Rodgers (41 years old)

The Knights in Shining Armour

Left Tackle - Broderick Jones (24 years old)

Left Guard - Isaac Seumalo (31 years old)

Centre - Zach Frazier (23 years old)

Right Guard - Mason McCormick (25 years old)

Right Tackle - Troy Fautanu (24 years old)

Pittsburgh's mostly young front five has some real promise. Mike Tomlin pulled the trigger on a hard reset for his offensive line last offseason, taking three swings during the 2024 draft on Troy Fautanu, Zach Frazier and Mason McCormick. It appears to have mostly paid off.

Frazier notably made noise as the long-term solution at centre, McCormick settled well with a leap in his development expected in 2025, but as for Fautanu, he'll be treating 2025 as year one after suffering a dislocated kneecap in preseason.

2023 first-round pick Broderick Jones is being moved back to left tackle after Dan Moore jumped ship to Tennessee, and he's someone who'll firmly be under the spotlight, but he's got the talent to match the pressure as an athletic and powerful run stopper.

Growing pains are to be expected, especially for both tackles, but as the weeks progress, they'll learn fast and become a vastly better unit when crunch time comes in December.

Rodgers' Weaponry

Running back 1 - Kaleb Johnson (20 years old)

Wide receiver 1 - D.K. Metcalf (27 years old)

Wide receiver 2 - Calvin Austin (26 years old)

Wide receiver 3 - Robert Woods (33 years old)

Tight end - Pat Freiermuth (26 years old)

A refresh in the receiving core too for Pittsburgh, George Pickens moved to the Dallas Cowboys for a third-round pick, Metcalf came in for a second. In free agency, veteran Robert Woods took the place of Titans-bound Van Jefferson, and Najee Harris's move to the Los Angeles Chargers opened the door for rookie bell-cow Kaleb Johnson.

At a glance, there is one question mark - Looking back throughout Rodgers's career, his main target prototypically is a savvy route runner, who's got sure hands and excels over the midfield, like a Davante Adams; Metcalf isn't that, he thrives off of his physicality on the outside.

Now that's not to say it definitely will not work, Rodgers still has a live arm when necessary, but he needs his X receiver to play to his strengths - evade heavy hits with quick passes and tight window throws.

Moving on to Rodgers's other receivers, Calvin Austin and Robert Woods are solid role players who can chip in, and Freiermuth, being one of the league's best in his position, is a great option on any roster.

Overall, the dynamics of the team are promising, and only so many assumptions can be made before we truly see how this side will perform in 2025. Tomlin has formed a solid quartet of pass-catchers, and if Johnson can reduce the need for Rodgers to throw the ball 30+ times a game, then Pittsburgh could earn another positive record in 2025.
