Bournemouth join Wolves transfer race in ‘last few hours’ – Serious chance of move

AFC Bournemouth have joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in chasing Barcelona’s Gerard Martín, according to Wednesday’s edition of Sport.

Two days ago, the same newspaper reported Wolves can offer him an improved salary to tempt him to join them.

A fresh report from Sport says that in the ‘last few hours’ Bournemouth have emerged as a new suitor to secure the left-back’s services.

Milos Kerkez was the first choice left-back for the Cherries this season and is linked with a €40m move to Liverpool. The Premier League club have to look for his replacement and have identified Martín as a target.

The report states Bournemouth believe the 23-year-old would fit well into Andoni Iraola’s system and therefore, are in the running to sign him. They would have to battle it out with Wolves, who sold Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City on Monday.

Vítor Pereira’s side also feel the Barcelona player would be a good fit and made contact to ask about the fee needed to sign him. Jorge Mendes, who doesn’t represent Martín, has good relationship with both Wolves and Barcelona and could mediate a deal.

Despite his desire to stay, the report states he has a ‘serious chance’ of leaving the Camp Nou. Barcelona, for their part, are willing to listen to offers starting from €12m.
