Mamadou Sarr has been signed to go straight into the Chelsea first team squad according to journalist Matt Law.
The Blues agreed a deal with Strasbourg worth around £11.9m for Sarr in January and the teenager spent the rest of last season on loan at the French side.
Chelsea officially announced the signing of Sarr earlier this week on a contract until 2033 and he’s inline to make his debut at the Club World Cup.
Mamadou Sarr signed for the first team
Sarr impressed for Strasbourg last season as they qualified for the Conference League under Liam Rosenior and the 19-year-old made 27 appearances in Ligue 1.
It’s unclear what Chelsea’s plan is for the teenager, but it had been reported they were considering sending him back to Strasbourg for another season.

However, Law has provided an update on the situation and confirmed Sarr had in fact been signed to go straight into the first team.
He took to X.com and said:
“Lots of Qs on Kendry Paez. He will be joining Strasbourg on loan whereas the other 3 incoming players – Delap, Sarr and Essugo – have been signed to go straight into#cfc first-team squad.”
Sarr has received praise from Rosenior who labelled his performances as “scary” and Andrey Santos has also admitted he “loves” Sarr.
Chelsea still looking for a centre back
Sarr will likely fill a squad role at Stamford Bridge next season, but it’s still expected the Blues will go in and sign another centre back.
Chelsea have been linked with Crytsal Palace captain Marc Guehi although there hasn’t been many updates regarding his future recently.

A move for Jarrad Branthwaite appears unlikely, whilst Ajax teenager Jorrel Hato is said to be a player Chelsea are interested in.
Hato would provide an alternative at left back to Marc Cucurella whilst he can also play centre back, and the Dutch international is thought to be valued at around €55m.
