“I’m ready” – Arsenal youngster reveals desire to move this summer

Lucas Martin Nygaard has revealed he’s been in talks with Arsenal for a while over going out on loan this summer.

The 18-year-old is currently with Denmark U21s, preparing for the UEFA U21 European Championship. They face Ukraine in the first group stage fixture tomorrow.

Lucas Martin Nygaard left FC Nordsjælland in January 2024 and was without a club until Arsenal signed him for free a year ago.

The goalkeeper has so far represented the Gunners at U19 and U21 levels but hasn’t made his debut for Mikel Arteta’s side. [Tipsbladet](https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/talent/arsenal-dansker-skal-udlejes-vil-til-danmark) spoke to the youngster, and he opened up on the chat he had with the Premier League side regarding his immediate future.

According to the young stopper, both he and Arsenal feel that he’s ready for first team football next season.

_“We’ve been talking, me and Arsenal, for the past six months about me going out on loan. Both them and I feel that I’m ready to play some senior football and get the development that comes with it. I hope that will happen,”_ he said.

_“Now my focus is on the European Championship, and that might also provide some opportunities on the back of the European Championship.”_

The teenager’s desire is to join a top flight club in Denmark on loan this summer, in order to continue his development.

_“It could be anywhere, but I would also like to return to Denmark. Something in the first division would be really cool, so we’re looking at that too,”_ Lucas Martin Nygaard explained.

_“I feel ready to come back and play senior football. There are a lot of players on offer in England. In this window alone, 10 of my team are out of contract, so there are a lot of people looking for something new.”_

Tipsladet report the Arsenal youngster claims ‘there are already talks going on’, but he isn’t involved as his focus is with Denmark U21s.
