Clearing the decks? Chelsea'willing to listen'to offers for two defenders

Chelsea are allegedly ready to listen to offers for two of their centre-backs during the summer transfer window.

Despite qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Conference League, there are expected to be several changes made to Enzo Maresca's first-team squad.

With Mamadou Sarr having just completed a permanent transfer from Strasbourg, it remains to be seen whether the 19-year-old will be fast-tracked into the senior ranks.

A decision will also need to be made over Renato Veiga, who has proven himself as a centre-back on loan at Juventus and with Portugal despite Maresca viewing him as a utility player.

Nevertheless, according to Football Insider, there are already two central defenders who are more likely to depart Stamford Bridge this summer.

Exit incoming for French duo?

The report alleges that offers will be considered for each of Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi over the coming months.

Unlike Disasi, Badiashile will be selected in the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup and will essentially be viewed as backup at left-sided central defender.

However, despite making a positive impression in the Conference League this season, making just five appearances in the Premier League has left the France international down the pecking order.

Meanwhile, Disasi being made available should come as no surprise after he was loaned out to Aston Villa during the winter market.

Despite making six starts and four substitute outings for the West Midlands outfit, they have not been convinced to make a permanent bid for the 27-year-old and he is now out of favour at Chelsea.

What kind of offers will be considered?

Between them, Badiashile and Disasi cost in the region of £70m when they made their respective moves from Monaco in 2023.

Chelsea have a tough job recouping anywhere near that figure and attractive loan proposals will have to come into consideration given that their contracts run until 2030 and 2029 respectively.

The downside to that is that Chelsea may be forced into using one of their six foreign loan slots, which they would ideally like to use with their prospects and players who have a future at the club.

No specific fees are mentioned but Chelsea will realistically want to recoup in the region of £20m and £25m for each player.
