"Just buy him!": Paul Scholes identifies exactly which midfielder United should sign this summer

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has claimed that his former side must do all they can to sign Crystal Palace player Eberechi Eze.

The Red Devils are embarking on a summer of change as they hope to give head coach Ruben Amorim the tools to succeed at Old Trafford.

A deal for Matheus Cunha has already been agreed with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

What’s more, United are locked in negotiations with Brentford over the signing of attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils are also said to be interested in securing the services of a striker with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres seen as a priority target.

Former player turned pundit Scholes gave some advice to his former team in an Instagram post during England’s 1-3 loss to Senegal yesterday evening.

The Metro report that “during the game, Scholes posted a picture of Eze in an England shirt with the caption: ‘Just buy him’.”

Scholes is not the only former Red Devils to feel Eze could do a job at Old Trafford.

Dwight Yorke recently claimed that “Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace would be perfect for Manchester United.”

The treble winner also added, “Eze has the decision-making, the talent, he’s a good athlete, he can create and score. He’s at the right age to step up and play on a bigger platform. It’s a no-brainer.”

The Red Devils have been rumoured to be interested in Eze in the past but links have dried up since the club began focusing on Cunha and Mbeumo.

The England star enjoyed another top season, scoring the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City for the Eagles.

He scored a highly impressive 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances this season.
