Nottingham Forest are said to have expressed an interest in Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri.
The Reds are on the verge of selling Matt Turner to the French side. But it could be that Perri heads in the opposite direction as Forest reshuffle their options between the posts.
According to Brazilian publication UOL, the Reds have Perri on their radar and have “sought information” about the Brazilian stopper. However, they are not the only club keen on securing his services.
AC Milan are also said to have their eye on the 27-year-old as they prepare for the potential departure of Mike Maignan. In “recent days”, the Italian giants have “consulted” Perri about the situation.
Forest have conducted a fair bit of transfer business with Lyon in recent windows. Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala left the City Ground for the Ligue 1 outfit 12 months ago, and Turner and midfielder Danilo could do the same this summer.
The two sides have reportedly “verbally agreed” a deal for USA international Turner. The ex-Arsenal man spent the season on loan at Crystal Palace and is now set to leave Trentside for an €8 million (£6.7m) fee.
Golden Glove winner Matz Sels is Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s clear No.1 but the club will assess their back-up options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. There has been speculation about No.2 Carlos Miguel’s future while third-choice Wayne Hennessey is in talks about his role at the club, with a coaching position likely to be on the cards for the Welshman.
Perri joined Lyon in January 2024 from Brazilian side Botafogo, who Forest are also set to trade with this summer. Both clubs are owned by American businessman John Textor.
Striker Igor Jesus has already indicated he will make the switch to the City Ground from Botafogo after the Club World Cup. It is hoped his teammates Jair Cunha and Cuiabano will follow suit, although Brighton and Hove Albion are said to be keen on the latter.
Perri came up through the ranks at Sao Paulo and had loan spells at Crystal Palace and Nautico before his 2022 move to Botafogo. His stint with the Eagles in 2019 was a short one and he did not make a single appearance.
Transfer dealings are currently paused for Premier League clubs for a short period as this year’s summer window has been split into two due to the Club World Cup. The window will reopen on Monday (June 16) and will remain so until September 1.
