Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation takes unexpected twist in now-deleted post

Everton are still waiting on a number of their players to decide whether they will ink a new contract on Merseyside.

It has been the story of the year at Everton with a host of players seeing their contracts run out at the end of the campaign.

There have been some breakthroughs with Seamus Coleman expected to stay at Everton in some capacity for the 2025/26 term.

But there have already been several players to see their time at Everton come to an end.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to leave Everton at the end of the month as a free agent despite a contract offer being on the table.

However, there may have now been an unexpected twist which could suggest otherwise.

Everton hit with unexpected Dominic Calvert-Lewin contract twist

Over recent weeks, Everton have remained keen to keep Calvert-Lewin for the new campaign by offering him a new deal.

But that offer is yet to be accepted by Calvert-Lewin who is on course to test his options as a free agent over the summer.

With speculation surrounding his future doing the rounds in the media, his wife has now taken to social media to share her thoughts on the matter.

Responding to a post suggesting the striker would leave, Sandra Calvert-Lewin simply replied ‘not true’ on her Instagram account.

This post has since been deleted by the striker’s wife who has not shied away from offering her thoughts on Calvert-Lewin’s situation at Everton.

In a recent interview, Calvert-Lewin admits he has regrets from his time at Everton and he is certainly leaving any contract agreement until the very final stages.

Perhaps his wife has offered some fans hope that a deal can still be struck given the pressing need for Everton to hold strong squad depth.

Everton still need to sign a new striker

Regardless of whether Calvert-Lewin stays at the club or not, Everton need to add some goals to their front line.

This is expected to be the case as Everton are prioritising a new striker this summer.

David Moyes is in serious need of a striker who can offer him a consistent stream of goals over the course of a whole season.

Some may argue Beto could be that player, but with Armando Broja leaving the club, Everton still need another addition.

A big summer lies ahead for the Friedkins and a new striker signing will be a large part of how they are judged.
