Everton submit bid ‘in excess’ of €30m for player – Moyes’ ‘priority’ target this summer

Everton have submitted an offer ‘in excess’ of €30m for Villarreal forward Thierno Barry, who is David Moyes’ priority target for the summer.

That’s [according to journalist Marc Mechenoua](https://x.com/LeMechenoua/status/1932741617125109909), who reports that no agreement has been reached with Villarreal yet for the 22-year-old.

Reports over the last week have seen Everton linked with a move for Barry as they look to strengthen Moyes’ squad this summer, attacking reinforcements are a priority for the Blues.

It has been suggested that Everton would need as much as €40m to get a deal done but their interest has been played down in Spain, particularly in press local to Villarreal. As of yesterday, they insisted that no formal offer had been made, and Villarreal had no desire or need to sell.

Now it appears that the situation has changed, with Mechenoua reporting that Everton have submitted an offer ‘in excess’ of €30m for Barry.

He does insist that no agreement has been reached with Villarreal as yet. They only signed Barry from Basel for €14m in August 2024.

Barry, though, according to Mechenoua is Moyes’ priority attacking target this summer and with a bid now in, this is a transfer to keep a firm eye on.
