Man Utd need to move more players on and they have just been given a helping hand by a Premier League rival.

Manchester United have been ticking along quite nicely on the pitch as Ruben Amorim starts to see the benefits of a full pre-season training programme.

The Red Devils boss will be happy with what he’s seen so far, however, he will still be wanting new faces in to join £62.5m man Matheus Cunha and the subject of the transfer saga of the summer so far, Bryan Mbeumo. Both will make a difference to how Amorim wants to play but the next step has to be moving on the other players who don’t want to be at the club.

Man Utd valuation sees Napoli enter Jadon Sancho race

Reports of Sancho agreeing a move to Juventus were premature, they are still interested in the 25-year old but they look like they are playing a waiting game to see if his wage demands decrease. Plus, the Old Lady of Italian football still have their own contract rebel to sort out in the shape of Dusan Vlahovic, a player who was offered to United as part of a possible deal for Sancho. It now looks like Napoli are leading the chase, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian media outlet claims that: “Napoli have officially entered the race to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, increasing competition for Juventus, who have recently stalled their pursuit of the English attacker. Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has already made contact with Sancho’s representatives. Sancho, who remains out of Manchester United’s plans, is now considered a valuable market opportunity due to his reduced price tag.”

Why United need to cut their losses and do a deal with Napoli

Napoli had Sancho at the top of their shopping list only to move for other targets, although a Premier League announcement could benefit United. Dan Ndoye had all but agreed a move to the Italian champions only for the transfer to collapse at the last minute with Nottingham Forest’s interest turning his head. Napoli might have more prestige and Champions League to offer, what they don’t have though, is Premier League wages.

Ironically, this could open the door for United to pick up the phone to Napoli once again and agree the sort of deal that Rashford made to join Barca. If the Old Trafford outfit are to climb the table, the need to move players like Sancho on is of paramount importance.

For perspective, United could sell Sancho and contribute some of his wages, buy someone like Malick Fofana or Nick Woltemade and still be better off. Not only would they have a player more suited to the system Amorim is trying to play, they would save money on wages too.
