The New York Knicks have had an interesting offseason thus far as they have made a head coaching change and also added some key players to their roster.
New York began the offseason by firing head coach Tom Thibodeau despite him leading them to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2000 last season.
After about of month of interviews with multiple candidates, the Knicks hired two-time Coach of the Year winner Mike Brown as their new head coach.

They then added Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency to upgrade their bench, which was a massive problem for them last season.
On Thursday, the Knicks made another major move as they signed Mikal Bridges to a four-year, $150 million contract extension.

Of course, it was just a matter of time before the Knicks and Bridges agreed on a new deal, though they were waiting to offer it until they knew they would be unable to land a superstar this offseason.
According to NBA insider Jake Weinbach, the Knicks were stalling extension talks with Bridges in case Giannis Antetokounmpo became available this summer.
Weinbach also mentioned that with them signing Bridges to a new extension, it appears as though the Knicks, along with other teams around the NBA, know that Giannis is not leaving the Milwaukee Bucks anytime soon.

This is a massive report by Weinbach for both the Knicks and the rest of the league as it appears that Giannis will be staying in Milwaukee despite rumors he could force his way out this offseason.
For the Knicks, they have shown interest in acquiring Giannis over the past two seasons and it is not a surprise that they were waiting for a decision from him this offseason, though it did not work in his favor.

Because of this, the Knicks have now locked in their star forward through the 2029-30 season and they hope that their core of Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart can help lead them to a championship in the coming seasons.
