Newcastle United rejected a lowball opening offer from Liverpool for Alexander Isak yesterday.
Eddie Howe has claimed “people back in England” are dealing with the Alexander Isak saga while he prepares his team for the Premier League season.
Newcastle United rejected Liverpool’s first offer for the Swede yesterday - understood to be worth around £110million. Toon chiefs swiftly turned down what they felt was a derisory bid, with their price tag closer to £150million.
Meanwhile, Isak remains on a de facto strike after staying at home rather than going on the pre-season tour. The 25-year-old is currently in Spain - training alone - at former club Real Sociedad.

Newcastle expect him back in training next week ahead of the Sela Cup double-header. It remains to be seen whether Isak complies or if he will dig in further to force a move.
As for Liverpool, it is unclear whether they will make another attempt to sign the striker. Conflicting noises have emerged, with some sources suggesting the Reds will move on and others viewing the lowball offer as part of a wider plan.
One thing is clear - Isak still wants out and Newcastle fans have every right to feel let down. Bridges have been burned due to his conduct and some are questioning whether there is a way back at all.
Speaking on the saga at a press conference in South Korea, Toon boss Howe confirmed the rejected bid while revealing officials in England are handling the saga. He told reporters: "I was made aware of a bid yesterday and that bid was turned down, all before I’d even heard about it. People back in England are dealing with the situation.
“I don’t know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again."
