Leeds United had a well planned out start to their transfer window this summer. The club knew what they wanted, who their targets were and what it took to get them.
Sebastiaan Bornauw revealed that Leeds had gotten in touch with him long before the season began. Other players were contacted by Daniel Farke to convince them of the project. The Leeds boss also added that the team had physical requirements when it came to transfer targets.

“You have to make sure that you are also good at defending crosses. Also more corner kicks, more wide-area free kicks against us. It’s important to be really, really good and strong.
“Also on the other end. Because I’m not sure if we can dominate all of the games in the manner we did on Championship level.”
Most of the signings this summer including Jaka Bijol, Lukas Nmecha and Anton Stach are 6ft or taller, and great in the air.

Nmecha was the first signing of the window. He joined the club as a free agent, leaving Wolfsburg last month. The forward brings in a mix of experience of quality to bolster a frontline that needed help this summer. The German has been speaking on his first impressions of the club and the city since he arrived.
“More than anything, just the size of it,” he told the YEP. “I’ve never been in a city where everyone has been a supporter of a club. I don’t know what it’s like for DJ [Dan James] or whoever to walk around town, but where I came from, it was a quiet, work based city, and here is literally, you get in an Uber and they start speaking about Leeds. You get to a restaurant, they know kind of what’s going on. So that’s the biggest thing I noticed.”
“I think everyone knows the potential – sleeping giant, as they told me,” he said.
Leeds still want a new striker
There was a lot of talk when Nmecha arrived at the club that his role would be different. He is a center forward, but can play in a variety of positions. This could be why Leeds are in the market for an out and out striker. It also shows that the German will be a big weapon for Daniel Farke this season.
Nmecha will be a huge addition this season
Lukas Nmecha has impressed in his first few pre season games. His touches have been brilliant, and he has found the back of the net in the last two games. He is linking up well with his teammates, which is a good sign for the upcoming season.
