Chelsea make opening bid for Dutch striker

Chelsea have made an opening offer to French club Strasbourg for Dutch-born striker Emanuel Emegha, the 6 foot 5 forward who has caught the attention of numerous top sides playing in the French leagues. With 22 league goals in 55 games, Emegha has displayed excellent ability in front of goal and the 22-year-old is said to be looking for a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea could be offloading Nicolas Jackson this summer and replacing him with Emegha, having already signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the transfer window. Jackson could well be allowed to leave for around 100 million euros, and discussions with manager Enzo Maresca are ongoing.

As Joao Pedro is likely to lead the line at Stamford Bridge this season, all Maresca needs is backup forwards and in Emegha, that could be achievable for a fee of around 25 million euros.

Emegha has previously spent time in Austria and Belgium, playing for Sturm Graz and Royal Antwerp respectively, and prior to that he played for his boyhood club Sparta Rotterdam. It is only in recent years that he has caught the eye and is currently playing for the Netherlands' under-21 side.
