Chelsea striker set for Premier League loan move

FIFA Club World Cup winners Chelsea face German giants Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly on August 8.

The Blues have won both the Club World Cup and Europa Conference League over the past couple of month, and Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side impress when the Premier League season begins next month.

In the meantime, the West London outfit will face both Leverkusen and Italian side AC Milan at Stamford Bridge.

This summer has been a busy one so far for Chelsea, with several incomings and outgoings at SW6.

Now, it appears that another attacking player is on his way out of the club for the upcoming season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, striker Marc Guiu is set to complete a season-long loan move to newly-promoted Premier League side Sunderland.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer and was primarily used in Europe and in the domestic cup competitions during his debut campaign in England.

Guiu scored six times in 16 games across all competitions but featured just three times in the Premier League for Maresca’s side, with the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku ahead of him in the pecking order.

Romano claims that the Black Cats have now reached an agreement to sign the Spaniard on loan for the entirety of the upcoming campaign.

The teenager will become Sunderland’s eighth signing of the summer so far, with ex-Arsenal midfielder Grant Xhaka having joined Regis Le Bris’ side earlier this week.

Guiu is under contract at Chelsea until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, having signed a long-term deal when joining the West London outfit a year ago.
