It remains to be seen where Claudio Echeverri is playing his football throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
The Argentine only arrived at Man City in January, but has already made an impression on Pep Guardiola, as the legendary coach brought him on during the FA Cup final last season, while also handing the youngster minutes at the FIFA Club World Cup.
It was reported this week that Guardiola could keep Echeverri at Man City for the upcoming season, so the 19-year-old can learn from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush, which would also help him adapt to how the Manchester club want him to play quicker.
A loan move is the most likely outcome for the midfielder, and it is believed that the Argentina star is not happy about where the Premier League giants want to send him.

Claudio Echeverri is not keen on a move to Girona
Echeverri has been linked heavily with a move to Roma this week, with the Italian club one of many clubs showing an interest in the 19-year-old talent.
Girona are another side pushing to have Echeverri as part of their squad for the new season, and that is a deal Man City’s owners would prefer, as the La Liga club are part of the City Football Group.

According to Daniele Longo, the Argentine is not keen on a move to the Catalan club, which is Man City’s preferred destination for him, and instead, the 19-year-old wants to compete with a team in the Champions League or Europa League.
Roma tick this box for the Man City star; however, that move may not benefit the youngster, as there is no guarantee he will play.
Others may join the race for Echeverri now that they know he is available, but there is another club that have already shown interest in the midfielder, which would be a great move for the Argentine.
Lyon tick all the boxes for Claudio Echeverri
Lyon have shown an interest in Echeverri this summer, and the Ligue 1 club are still owed a player on loan from Man City for the upcoming campaign, as that was part of their agreement when Rayan Cherki completed his move to Manchester.
As a result, this is a transfer the Premier League giants could be open to as it ticks a box for them, while it will also grant the 19-year-old his wish of playing in Europe.
The departure of Cherki has also left a space for the midfielder to fill, and Ligue 1 is known to be a great league for young talent to develop their skills.
Although Man City plan on Echeverri moving to Girona, a loan deal with Lyon could be just as beneficial to the City Football Group.
