Diogo Dalot delighted Bruno Fernandes turned down Saudi Pro League transfer, it sends a ‘clear message’ for Man Utd teammates

Bruno Fernandes turned down the opportunity to leave Manchester United for Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

It has been a busy summer for Manchester United, and it’s not over yet.

United have made two signings this summer and still hope to add more players to Ruben Amorim’s squad, which is likely dependent on whether they can sell any players.

Matheus Cunha joined from Wolves before Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo signed a month later.

United have a range of players available for sale. They include Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and more.

However, finding suitors for those players has proved tricky thus far.

Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan last week and has made two appearances for the La Liga club during pre-season.

It remains to be seen if United will be able to find a new home for either Garnacho, Antony, Sancho or Malacia.

Diogo Dalot takes note of Bruno Fernandes message

United are currently in the United States on pre-season tour.

Diogo Dalot is one of the players who has been in action, with some mixed performances in the games to date.

The Portuguese left-back was delighted when his compatriot Bruno Fernandes turned down Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

Speaking in the US about Fernandes’ decision to stay, Dalot’s comments come after another Saudi Pro League club showed interest in the playmaker.

Al Nassr are now being linked with a move for Fernandes, though it is understood that the United captain will be staying at Old Trafford as part of Amorim’s squad next season.

“I think it’s a clear message that he still believes that this club can go to the places that it should be,” Dalot said, as quoted by ESPN.

“I don’t think there’s a better way of starting a season than your captain staying and believing that this can go in the right direction.

“It’s a clear message for the other teammates, for everybody, that we have to believe. We have to work really hard to put Manchester back on the place that it deserves.”

When are Man Utd in action again?

The Red Devils face Everton on the third and final matchday of the 2025 Premier League Summer Series this Sunday.

On the back of wins over West Ham and Bournemouth, United are looking to remain unbeaten in pre-season.

This will be United’s first-ever game in the US state of Georgia, taking place in the city of Atlanta, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Mbeumo is expected to make his United debut against the Toffees.
