Simply put, Everton have a lot of positions that still need addressing in the transfer window.
There has been some encouraging additions for David Moyes to work with on Merseyside, with the likes of Thierno Barry added.
However, Moyes wants nine new players signed ahead of the transfer deadline at the beginning of September.
That is a huge amount of work needing to be done at the club to get the team ready for the new season.
After signing Adam Aznou, Everton want to sign a new right-back, with the likes of Nathan Patterson not exactly impressing this summer.
After an impressive 2024/25 campaign from Jake O’Brien, Everton could look to land themselves a real bargain to shore up the squad depth.

Everton could make move for Leicester City’s James Justin
Already this summer, Everton have lost out on Kenny Tete, who looked set to make the move to Merseyside.
What it did show, though, is Everton’s clear wish to improve their options at right-back.

According to Paul Joyce, Everton could now make a move to sign James Justin from Leicester City.
Justin could be signed this summer in a deal worth just £6m following the Foxes’ return to the Championship.
It is a position which Everton want to improve, and if funds are now being stretched, then Justin could prove a smart addition.
Everton have now seen Kyle Walker-Peters sign for West Ham after showing some interest in the former Southampton full-back.
O’Brien has played at centre-back throughout pre-season, but he may be forced back out on the right when Everton get the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite back from injury.

What Brendan Rodgers said about James Justin
Heading into the summer, Justin has just one year remaining on his current deal with the Foxes.
Also, now playing Championship football, a return to the Premier League could prove a really enticing opportunity for the defender.
Everton have already shown interest in Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi, but the focus could now turn to their right-back.
Previously speaking about the right-back, former manager Brendan Rodgers hailed Justin for dealing with Adama Traore.
“Traore, once the game opens up, he’s such a threat. But I thought James Justin was outstanding with his defensive qualities,” he said.
