West Ham appear to now be targeting multiple goalkeepers and will only bring in one, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
Our pursuit of a new goalkeeper was thrown into confusion yesterday, when the club launched a bid to sign John Victor, despite having been in extensive talks with both Mads Hermansen and Zion Suzuki.
It was felt that the most likely arrival would be one of Hermansen or Suzuki this summer, however the move for Victor has now thrown another name into the mix.
Our club insider has spoken to top sources to get clarity on the situation, with it appearing that the club do intend to bring in only one goalkeeper, with Areola set to remain.
“West Ham are known to be in the market for a keeper and we exclusively revealed the names of both Hermansen and Susuki as targets and we believe they still are,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.
“Yesterday however we saw a new name linked to the club and this came in the form of John Victor.
“Whilst we were given his name on the Wednesday by West Ham Stuff on Twitter, we didn’t believe the target to be legitimate.
“Further research has shown that the offer was infact genuine but fell just short of the release clause that the player has at Brazilian side Botafogo.
“West Ham are expected to continue negotiations with all three keepers today. This left us with the question of whether West Ham are in fact looking to sign two keepers with Areola set to possibly move.
“So we put the question ‘We have been linked with a lot of keepers in the last few days. Are we planning on selling Areola? Or are we just looking for one to compete with him?”
“The top source came back with one simple word answer. ‘Compete’.
“This word is enough though to tell us Areola will be staying for now and that we will be only signing one keeper, who will be competing with the French international for a starting spot.”
