More breaking news at Newcastle United, only this time it’s regarding a potential incoming striker.
Last night, reports in Slovenia indicated that Newcastle are now the new favourites to land Benjamin Sesko, and while reports of him arriving may be slightly premature, some big claims have followed this morning.
According to Sky Sports’ [Keith Downie](https://x.com/SkySports_Keith/status/1951571967267750389), Newcastle have now launched their first formal bid for the RB Leipzig striker.
Downie reports that the bid €75m + €5m has been sent to the Bundesliga club, which is believed to match their valuation (£65.5m + £4.3m) of the 22-year-old.
The club have ‘presented their vision’ to Sesko and made it very clear that they want a deal to happen, with this a major move in our attempts to beat Manchester United to a deal.
Crucially, Downie states that Sesko is ‘open to both projects’, with the 6ft 5′ forward now considering his options before making a final decision.
The fact our offer has matched RB Leipzig’s demands suggests that, should Sesko opt for St James’ Park over Old Trafford, we should have no issues completing a deal. But a decision now lies with the man himself.
This comes after Liverpool failed with a £110m bid for Alexander Isak on Friday. A second bid was anticipated, only for widespread reports to suggest the Reds would NOT be following that up with another offer.
