Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have reportedly sent an “official offer” to Liverpool to sign striker Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan may have enjoyed a fruitful pre-season, scoring four goals, but he has been expected to leave Anfield all summer.
Nunez has been linked with various clubs, including Serie A champions Napoli, but ties to Saudi have been consistent. It was previously reported, though, that the player is “though to favour staying in Europe.”
According to local journalist Hamad Al-Suwailihi on X, from Saudi outlet Al-Riyadiya, who have readily followed the pursuit of Nunez, Al-Hilal have “sent an official offer” to Liverpool for the services of the 26-year-old.

He is described as the “top choice” for new coach Simone Inzaghi, who left Inter Milan earlier this year after guiding them to the Champions League final.
Meanwhile, on X, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that talks between Al-Hilal and Nunez’s representatives are “ongoing,” with Liverpool still “open” to selling him before the new seasons gets underway.
In a newer update, Romano also states that the Saudi Pro League side have “presented their project” to the Reds’ No. 9, adding that the “financial details of the deal” now need to be agreed.
Still the right time for Nunez to leave Liverpool?

The tragic passing of Diogo Jota last month has understandably affected Liverpool’s attacking depth this summer.
With Luis Diaz heading to Bayern Munich, and Federico Chiesa also expected to leave, there is an argument to say that the Reds’ attacking options are changing too much if Nunez exits as well.
That said, Hugo Ekitike has arrived and Florian Wirtz can shine on the left flank, if needed, and Liverpool continue to pursue Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
Ultimately, after three up-and-down years at Anfield, this still feels like the right time for the Reds to sell Nunez.
It will allow Liverpool to receive a healthy fee for him, trying to earn as much of the £85 million back that they paid Benfica in 2022.
Nunez hasn’t done enough in his three years with the Reds to justify staying, both under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
While rightly a much-loved figure among Liverpool fans, due to his character and effort levels, a higher calibre of striker is needed.
