Newcastle United have submitted an initial £70m bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has reported.
The Magpies have reportedly tabled a formal offer worth £65.5m plus £4.3m in add-ons and now await decisions from both Leipzig and Sesko.
Sesko is currently considering proposals from at least two clubs, with Manchester United also in the race and aiming to beat Newcastle to the 22-year-old’s signature.

According to Downie, Newcastle’s first offer worth £70m matches Leipzig’s valuation, although they are still awaiting a decision from Sesko, who is said to be open to both clubs:
Meanwhile, reports in Slovenia have recently claimed that Sesko has already chosen Newcastle as his next destination, with the overall cost of the deal standing at around £70m.
Sesko has emerged as one of the most promising strikers in Europe during his two-year stint at Leipzig, where he scored 39 goals and provided eight assists in 87 appearances.
The 'elite' Slovenia international netted 13 times in the Bundesliga last season, finishing ninth among the competition’s top scorers.
Newcastle have been on the lookout for a new centre-forward this summer regardless of Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park.
The Magpies rejected Liverpool’s initial bid for the Swedish striker this week and remain determined to keep Isak for at least another six months.
