Eddie Howe has confirmed that there is still a way back for Alexander Isak at Newcastle United, with his move to Liverpool cast into fresh doubt.
Liverpool could walk away from talks to sign Isak after they saw a huge offer rejected by Newcastle United on Friday.
Isak wants to join Liverpool this summer but, so far at least, Newcastle haven’t budged.
Not only did Liverpool’s offer fail to reach Newcastle’s valuation of Isak, Howe does not have any ready-made replacements in his squad.
Newcastle are enduring a miserable summer transfer window and are reportedly not prepared to let Isak leave unless they can find a suitable replacement.
Now, Isak is set to return to Newcastle training next week. Clearly, this is an ever-changing situation and there remains a chance the Sweden international could leave, but that’s no longer an absolute guarantee.
Speaking from Seoul, Howe insisted Newcastle still support their star striker.

Eddie Howe sees future for Alexander Isak at Newcastle United
Isak has invoked the ire of Newcastle supporters during this saga, who – justifiably – may think he’s treated the club with a lack of respect.

Still, the Newcastle United manager expressed hope that Isak will wear the club’s shirt again next season.
Ahead of the pre-season game against Tottenham on Sunday, Howe said: “I really don’t know what’s going to happen next but, from our perspective, we still support Alex in every way.
“My wish is still that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again.”
"From this point onwards, let's see what happens"

Why Newcastle United sources now feel sorry for Alexander Isak
According to The Daily Mail, sources believe Isak might have been strung along by Liverpool during this damaging saga for all involved.
They have suggested that while the interest from Anfield was genuine, it was based on a price well below Newcastle’s £150million valuation.
There’s now a feeling that Isak has been badly advised throughout this process.
That does not mean Isak will be staying at Newcastle. Should the club bring in at least a couple of replacements, perhaps it will open the door to his eventual departure.
