Man United vs. Newcastle: 'Club-record offer' submitted for Leipzig star Sesko

Newcastle United have reportedly made a club-record offer for Benjamin Sesko, with the Magpies determined to beat Manchester United to the signature of the RB Leipzig centre-forward.

Sesko has scored 39 times and registered eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig, and he is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit during this summer's transfer window.

The 22-year-old is Man United's leading centre-forward target this summer, but Newcastle are also firmly in the race for the Slovenian, and a club-record offer has allegedly now been submitted by the Magpies.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle have made a €75m (£65.5m) plus €5m (£4.4m) in add-ons bid for Sesko, with Eddie Howe's side determined to win the race for his signature.

The Magpies are allegedly hopeful that their offer will allow them to beat Man United to a deal, as it is doubtful whether the Red Devils are in a position to make that type of bid at this stage.

Indeed, Ruben Amorim's side are still working to shift Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony, although Marcus Rashford's wages have now been removed courtesy of his loan move to Barcelona.

Newcastle 'submit club-record offer' for Sesko

According to Sky Sports News, Sesko is yet to make a firm decision on his future despite suggestions overnight that he had rejected Man United in order to move to Newcastle.

The Magpies have rejected an offer in the region of £120m from Liverpool for Alexander Isak, with the club battling to keep hold of the Sweden international.

However, a move for Sesko suggests that Howe's side are preparing to lose Isak, with the striker pushing to join Liverpool before the end of this summer's transfer window.

Newcastle will play in the Champions League next season, but Man United have no European football to offer, with the Red Devils losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

Will Man United now make an offer for Sesko?

As it stands, Man United have not made an offer for Sesko, with the Red Devils allegedly waiting for the striker to communicate that he wants to move to Old Trafford.

If Sesko tells Newcastle that he wants to move to the Red Devils, then a bid is likely to be imminent from the 20-time English champions, who are determined to bring in a new striker this summer.

The race for the Slovenian is well and truly on, and it could be a third win for Man United over Newcastle this summer, with the Red Devils already beating the Magpies to Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
