Estevao Willian reveals what’s now making him even more excited about joining Chelsea

Estevao Willian sat down for an interview for his Instagram, aiming to bid farewell to Palmeiras and introduce himself to the Chelsea fans.

Even with the influx of attackers at Stamford Bridge this summer, Estevao Willian may be the player fans are most excited to see in action.

The teenage phenom was signed a year ago for £29 million, but Estevao’s value has soared since then, making the deal a resounding success before he even plays a game for Chelsea.

But that time is almost upon us, and though Enzo Maresca will want to ease Estevao in gently, the player himself has expressed his excitement to hit the ground running at his new club.

Estevao Willian can’t wait to compete in the Champions League

Brazilian wingers have a storied history in Europe’s elite competition, and Estevao is eager to add his name to the long list of fellow countrymen who have lit up the pitch.

When discussing his imminent arrival at Chelsea on Instagram, he said: “Man, I can’t wait, seriously, to wear a Chelsea jersey, to represent Chelsea, you know?

“Especially now that there’s the Champions League, there will be important championships, the Premier League. I can’t wait, I’m so excited.”

When Estevao agreed to sign for Chelsea, they were in the Conference League, and now just a year later they are Club World Cup champions and a Champions League side. It’s quite understandable that Estevao’s level of excitement might have gone up a notch or two.

Estevao can be one of the Premier League’s best young players

Estevao may not be immediately part of the first team, and might even struggle to break into such a stacked attack, but it would be a mistake for Enzo Maresca not to trust him.

He’s had the extra year in Brazil, and now is the time to start developing his talent here at home.

Chelsea players were wowed by Estevao at the Club World Cup, with the youngster clocking higher speeds than any Chelsea player and even scoring against his future team in what Maresca told Estevao was a ‘perfect night’.

The potential signings of Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho may complicate Estevao’s route into a starting spot, but the 18-year-old doesn’t plan to shy away from the challenge:

“It seems like the days are slow to pass. It seems like the clock stopped, man. But I am really anxious, I hope everything works out. I hope I can build an incredible story and make Chelsea fans very proud”.
