Contract talks between Newcastle and Man City transfer target Tino Livramento are progressing well, according to reports.
Pep Guardiola’s side were hoping to lure the England international to the Etihad this summer but GiveMeSport claims that he could well sign an extension with the Magpies.
Supporters on X fear Livramento may end up locking himself into a cage at St James’ Park and some have suggested that the Cityzens should table a bid before the fullback puts pen to paper on a new deal:

Unless he’s getting a significant pay rise he shouldn’t be accepting an extension.

Well there goes his career down the drain.

I've had enough of the rumors about him. If Newcastle aren't willing to sell him and he doesn't push for a transfer, we'll just focus on the next person.

Who in their right mind would stay at Newcastle instead of joining Man City? Doesn’t he have ambitions? Does he even know the successful career Walker had here? Just get him in ffs.

If he signs a new deal he pretty much rules out a move to city ever.

Isak and Livramento won’t leave in the same window
While City could make an offer for the defender, the chances of it being accepted are next to nothing at the moment.
Another of Newcastle’s prizes assets, Alexander Isak, is trying to force an exit, and if the striker does leave for Liverpool before the transfer window closes, you can’t see the Magpies sanctioning Livramento’s departure as well.
Do Man City have a backup option?
Based on what has been reported, it doesn’t appear there is an alternative to Livramento. Interest has cooled in Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso, while an official offer for Wesley did not materialise before Flamengo sold him to Roma.
Links to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries were never seen as credible, and his release clause has recently expired, so a move for the Dutchman is off the cards as well. Guardiola may have to make do with Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis at right-back for now.
