Xavi Simons has today been left out of RB Leipzig’s friendly against Atalanta as a move to Chelsea rumbles on.
That’s according to Philipp Hinze, who reports that the player is out of the friendly as he’s complaining of a neck pain.
His absence comes amid a push from him and Chelsea to finalise a move to take him to Stamford Bridge this summer. The Blues are believed to be keen on a deal but are yet to strike an agreement and needs sales from their squad first.
Xavi has poured petrol on the transfer rumour fire, though, by yesterday deleting RB Leipzig from his Instagram. That, plus the new mystery neck injury keeping him out today are both being seen as the signs becoming clearer and clearer that his camp are pushing for a move to Chelsea.
On that front, journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Chelsea are still working on the deal, and a verbal agreement is almost done. According to him, there is a strong feeling that the deal will go through.
Chelsea are ready to submit an official bid, but they still need to move players on from Enzo Maresca’s squad first.
