Real Betis are planning to resume negotiations with Manchester United for Antony, as the saga around the Brazilian continues to rumble on.
That’s according to Sport, who say time is running out for the forward to resolve his future and find a solution this summer.
The newspaper reports that Antony remains the ‘hot potato’ that needs to be ditched by Manchester United this summer, particularly because he doesn’t intend to accept any offer but one from Betis.
The Spanish side are moving forwards with their plan to bring him back but will take their time to ensure they get a deal that best suits them.
They are playing their cards slowly but surely, using the fact that Antony has told Manchester United and will only move to Betis. He is refusing to listen to offers from the likes of Saudi Arabia, which would better suit United.
The Verdiblancos have not intention of turning their back on the player despite the obvious financial difficulties of the deal. They instead have a plan to convince Manchester United to accept a deal that would see them take a percentage of the player’s rights for €20m.
United, for now, are determined to sell outright but the obvious hope for Betis is that they get desperate late in the window and accept the deal. Antony’s stance would help that along. He is also willing to reduce his wages and wait until the end of the window for the move.
It’s essentially a waiting game, forcing Manchester United’s hand with new contacts expected in the coming days to continue the already drawn-out talks.
