Newcastle United bid for Benjamin Sesko earlier today as they step up their attempts to sign a striker.
Benjamin Sesko has been left out of RB Leipzig’s pre-season friendly with Atalanta today.
The bombshell news comes just hours after Newcastle United made an opening offer for the striker. Sky Sports revealed earlier today that the Magpies have bid £65million - a potential club-record fee.
Sesko has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs throughout the summer. Arsenal were rumoured to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old’s situation before moving for Viktor Gyokeres.

Newcastle United vs Manchester United
However, only Newcastle and Manchester United are now at the table, just one week until the top-flight campaign kicks off. Noises in recent days indicated the Red Devils were Sesko’s preferred destination.
Slovenian media last claimed the opposite - reporting that the striker was now heading to St James’ Park. Confidence has levelled slightly but Newcastle are the only club to have made a formal offer.
Man United are operating under a tight PSR ship, especially after signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. High-earning stars like Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Antony remain on the books.
Benjamin Sesko left out of squad
Sesko has now sensationally been left out of Leipzig’s squad for today’s clash with Atalanta. He featured a week ago as the Bundesliga giants thrashed Toulouse 7-0 on home soil.
It is understood that Sesko has already told his teammates that he will leave this summer. Newcastle fans will be hoping his next destination is Tyneside given the dire transfer window so far.
Even Liverpool fans, to an extent, will be rooting for the Magpies over Man United. Rivalry aside, the Reds may feel more confident about signing wantaway goal machine Alexander Isak.
NewcastleWorld has heard no word from club sources about what a potential Sesko deal would mean for Isak. Toon chiefs have maintained the player is not for sale and viewed Liverpool’s opening offer as derisory.
