Benjamin Sesko misses RB Leipzig friendly – ‘Hot hours’ ahead, decision coming soon

Benjamin Sesko has been left out of RB Leipzig’s squad for a pre-season friendly today as Newcastle United continue to push for him.

That’s according to journalist Philipp Hinze, who reports on the striker today after Leipzig confirmed his absence from the squad taking on Atalanta.

An official tweet from the club’s account on X reported that Sesko was one of several players absent from the squad alongside the likes of Xavi Simons, Benjamin Henrich and Tim Werner.

Sesko has been heavily linked with a move away from the German club this week with Newcastle Untied in particular trying to secure his signature. A report on Friday night from Slovenia stated that he had chosen to join the Magpies over Manchester United.

Now his absence from their friendly on Saturday is likely to add to the speculation and Hinze reports the transfer is the ‘hot phase’ for him and Simons. The latter has been linked with a move to Chelsea and recently removed Leipzig from his social media profiles. He’s missing the game with a mysterious neck injury.

There’s no such information or complaint about Sesko but Hinze reports ‘exciting hours and days’ lie ahead for the Leipzig pair as decisions on Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle are coming soon.
