Fabrizio Romano: Wolves pushing to hijack deal to sign ‘special’ star, £15m bid being prepared

Wolverhampton Wanderers have a “strong” interest in Sevilla wide player Juanlu, according to Orazio Accomando and Fabrizio Romano.

For the first half of the 2024/25 season, Wolves looked like a team set for a relegation battle, something that led to Gary O’Neil being sacked before the turn of 2025. In his place, Wolves appointed Vitor Pereira and the Portuguese oversaw a vast improvement in form, steering the club well away from the bottom three.

Wolves, with their place in the Premier League secured, have been active in the market. Jorgen Strand Larsen’s loan deal from Celta Vigo has been made permanent and the club have added wingers Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias to their ranks, alongside left-back David Moller Wolfe.

The Midlands side, however, have lost star players Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha to Manchester City and Manchester United respectively, meaning these new additions will need to make an immediate impact. It now appears that the club are pushing for another La Liga attacking talent.

According to Orazio Accomando, there has been “direct contact” between Wolves and Sevilla regarding Juanlu, who is also of interest to Serie A champions Napoli. A right winger, Juanlu, who La Liga have called a "special" player, is comfortable playing as a full-back when necessary and has made over 100 professional appearances at just 21 years old.

Accomando has reported that Wolves are likely to bid around £15 million for Juanlu which, as later reported by Fabrizio Romano, is the “better proposal” between Wolves and Napoli, who have been pursuing the Spaniard for at least a month. Juanlu, as per Romano, has “agreed personal terms with Napoli,” something he is yet to do with Wolves.

Should Wolves beat Napoli to Juanlu’s signature, it would be a brilliant addition for the Molineux side as Pereira prepares for his first full Premier League campaign.
