Liverpool transfer agreement struck on Saturday morning–Club seem delighted with deal

Lyon have reached an agreement with Liverpool for midfielder Tyler Morton, with him now set to head to France.

That’s [according to L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Mercato-accord-ol-liverpool-pour-le-transfert-de-tyler-morton/1582592), who report that Liverpool and Lyon struck an agreement on Saturday morning for the 22-year-old midfielder.

According to their information, Morton will move to Lyon in a €10m deal and sign a five-year deal at the French club.

Lyon turned to the Liverpool midfielder after abandoning a plan to sign Pierre Lees-Melou. That saw them sign attacking midfielder Pavel Sulc and then shift gears to get a deal with Liverpool done for Morton.

He’s a long-term target, seen as a complete and modern number six who is comfortable on the ball, capable of playing at number eight and perfectly fitting the profile that manager Paulo Fonseca wanted.

He has agreed to move to France, indeed that agreement was struck a week ago, and the decisive step in negotiations between the two clubs was struck on Saturday morning.

The deal will be for an initial €10m plus €5m in add-ons, although they are considered quite difficult to achieve. Liverpool will also retain 20% of the profit from any future sale.
