'We can': Jorgen Strand Larsen drops Wolves hint amid Newcastle United interest

Wolves are facing uncertainty in attack as newly signed Jorgen Strand Larsen’s future is thrown into question, but new information may provide some clarity on the current situation.

Jorgen Strand Larsen impressed Wolves in his first season in England.

Having arrived on loan from Celta Vigo last summer, the big Norwegian managed 14 league goals along with four assists, forming a deadly partnership with Matheus Cunha and playing a large role in Wolves’ late-season surge under Vitor Pereira.

It came as no surprise to see Wolves make Strand Larsen’s move permanent this summer, but already interest is coming from other clubs.

Newcastle are the culprit, although new information may ease the concerns of the Old Gold.

Newcastle bid for Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle have fielded a bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, suggesting Strand Larsen is not currently their main target.

Club-record offer. Newcastle’s tactic has always been to get a quick agreement with Leipzig in the hope #MUFC can’t or won’t match it.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

With Alexander Isak’s situation breeding uncertainty at the club, they are looking to cover the chance of him leaving with a reinforcement up top. Strand Larsen was discussed as a dark horse for Newcastle, with Wolves even setting a price for the 25-year-old.

But Newcastle upping their pursuit of Sesko is something Wolves fans will be relieved to hear.

The story is not over, as Leipzig are yet to respond to the offer, but all eyes will be on the German side who play a significant role in the striker frenzy we’re anticipating in the final weeks of the window.

After the announcement of David Moller Wolfe’s signature early on Saturday, fellow countryman Strand Larsen spoke about the upcoming season, with the Norwegian appearing to be unfazed by recent links to Newcastle.

In an interview for the Wolves official website, he said of Moller Wolfe: “It’s really nice, I’m glad he’s here. He’s obviously a good friend of mine from the national team, he spoke to me a lot before coming here.

“He’s been wanting to come here for a while now, and I’m glad it’s done, and we can start working, because we still have some time before the first game of season.”

Those don’t sound like the words of a player whose mind is on a move, though it’s unlikely Wolves will feel too comforted with so long left in the window. This is one to be monitored.
