Inter Milan potentially interested in Christopher Nkunku — report

Here’s a story that’s unlikely to go anywhere, but according to L’Equipe, Inter Milan are interested in Christopher Nkunku and have been in talks with his representatives to “determine the potential form of his arrival”. That’s presumably code for trying to convince the 27-year-old that he should get paid less, in exchange for more minutes in a World Cup year.

As per the report, Chelsea are not actively shopping Nkunku around — unlike in January — but his improving status in the pecking order still leaves him far from first-choice at the moment. And Chelsea are still trying to add Xavi Simons to the squad as well, which would further reduce the opportunities for Nkunku (and perhaps Nicolas Jackson as well). One would image that either Nkunku or Jackson would have to go ... or maybe even both.

Of course, expecting Inter to cough up the money required in both fee and wages may be a bit optimistic. That said, they were ready to spend €40-45m on Ademola Lookman before getting rejected by Atalanta, so perhaps there is some money in that banana stand after all.
