Fulham set to land huge transfer blow to Leeds United – contract talks underway

Leeds United are in the market to sign a few players before the deadline. Fans will be frustrated with the club after they missed out on Igor Paixao.

The Brazilian winger chose to sign for Marseille this week. Leeds had pursued the player for days, and thought they had a deal over the line before the player chose the Ligue 1 club.

The Whites have had a high success rate with their signings this summer. This is because the club chose to focus on players who were 100% committed to the project and their proposal. New signing Lucas Perri recently spoke on how the city and the clubs fans drew him to sign this summer:

“From the videos I saw, the goal celebrations, especially the last game of the season which was an away game and to see after the parade for the Championship title, to see the atmosphere at Elland Road was something that was really nice to see. I hope that I can experience that soon.”

It looks like Leeds are about to miss out on another major target after news this week. Graeme Bailey revealed that Fulham are set to renew Rodrigo Muniz’s contract:

“It’s not news that intermediaries are doing the work. Fulham remain in talks over a new deal, however.

“They still want to keep him, but until they get the new deal signed, it’s not going to stop other people offering him elsewhere. He’s a good Premier League striker with a high ceiling. He’s still quite young, so he’s going to get linked around.”

Goals are required next season

Leeds need goals to stay up next season. Looking at the squad, not many players can be labelled as natural goalscorers. Without reinforcements, the attack leaves a lot to be desired.

Daniel Farke and the recruitment team must address these issues before the season kicks off in the next few weeks.

Leeds set to miss out on another major target

Fans will be frustrated after a great start to the transfer market. Seven signings so far has been a great return, but some fans will focus on the fact that they missed out on arguably the biggest moves. Losing out on Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz puts Leeds’ ambition in question.
