Leeds United ace Isaac Schmidt left his teammates somewhat disappointed during 1-1 pre-season draw with Villarreal.
The Swiss defender was playing on the right side of the defence against the Spanish side, but failed to impress in a rare opportunity.
The 25-year-old made just 12 appearances in the Championship last season, with a total of 71 minutes, as Daniel Farke stuck with Junior Firpo for the majority of the campaign.
He may have been hoping to get a chance in the Premier League. However, the former St Gallen man didn’t cover himself in glory in the draw with Villarreal.

Schmidt spotted in frustrating Leeds moment v Villarreal
The Whites were in Elland Road action against the La Liga side, but Schmidt struggled in the early stages of the contest.

He was constantly misplacing passes and switched off around the 20-minute mark, and Yeremi Pino forced Karl Darlow into a save.
Joe Rodon visibly put his hands out in frustration, while Farke was spotted in conversation with the versatile full-back on the sidelines to outline his frustration with his contributions, or lack thereof, at that stage.

Leeds will likely allow Schmidt to leave this summer
Given that he was unable to get many minutes in the second tier, it is unlikely that Farke will suddenly trust Schmidt to feature at the elite level.
When everyone is fit, Jayden Bogle and the new addition Gabriel Gudmundsson will likely take up the two spots on the flanks in defence, leaving the Switzerland international on the bench again.
Schmidt is seemingly surplus to requirements in LS11 with a loan move to Werder Bremen lined up, and given his performance against the Spaniards, that stance is unlikely to change heading into the new season.
He did liven up, especially going forward as the first-half went on but his lapses in concentration could cost Leeds dearly if he sticks around.
It is very likely that he is not in Yorkshire when the Whites’ league campaign begins against Everton (18 August).
If Schmidt was deemed not good enough for the second tier, then an exit makes sense for all parties because he will not be able to cut it at the top level.
