Leeds United shared a 1-1 draw with La Liga side Villarreal in Saturday’s penultimate pre-season friendly at Elland Road - but how did we rate the players?
After a goalless first half, Villarreal went ahead in the 62nd minute through Etta Eyong who was able to head home into an empty net after Illan Meslier was left grounded upon tipping a header on to the bar.
Leeds, though, drew level a few minutes later through Joel Piroe with a typical striker’s finish from the middle of the area after a cross from Brenden Aaronson had caused chaos and some Villarreal pinball in the box.
Both teams then had chances to bag a winner but the contest against a side who finished last season’s La Liga campaign in fifth place ended all square.
Graham Smyth, the YEP’s chief football writer, hands out the Leeds player ratings in a game falling two weeks short of the new Premier League campaign.
8 - Came up bit with a one-v-one save and then threw himself into the air to palm a header over the top. Sharp performance.

5 - Started brightly and went downhill. Lost the ball carelessly, struggled to contain Villarreal on that flank and didn't stop the cross for the second half goal.
