Al Hilal have “sent an official offer” to Liverpool for striker Darwin Nunez, according to journalist Hamad al-Suwailihi.
Liverpool, having won their second-ever Premier League title last season under Arne Slot’s guidance, have wasted little time in preparing themselves for a title defence. The club have signed Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong from Bournemouth and Bayer Leverkusen respectively as their new full-backs and, from the latter, also signed Florian Wirtz in a deal that could become a British record.
The Reds have also added striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt to their ranks, whilst Liverpool appears to be Alexander Isak’s preferred destination, the Swede having reportedly made clear his desire to leave Newcastle. It is clear that the title of Premier League champions is one that Liverpool aim to maintain.
With such an influx of players, it now appears that Liverpool could be close to seeing a departure from their squad.

Hamad al-Suwailihi, who is based in Saudi Arabia, has reported that Darwin Nunez, who has been called "world-class," is “currently the most prominent option” for Simeone Inzaghi and that Al Hilal have “sent an official offer” for the Uruguayan. Since joining Liverpool for an initial £64 million in 2022, Nunez, who earns £140,000 per week, has shown flashes of brilliance at Anfield, but has struggled for consistency throughout his tenure at the club.

Nunez has been expected to depart this summer for some time, a feeling that has only grown stronger in the face of Liverpool’s signing of Ekitike and pursuit of Isak. In selling Nunez, Liverpool would no doubt hope to recoup a large amount of what they paid for him, with that money, presumably, being allocated to making further additions. At the time of writing, however, a deal is yet to be agreed.
