Exclusive: "World-class" star pushed away from Everton amid £35m twist

Douglas Luiz is being pushed away from Everton and towards Nottingham Forest this summer after Juventus shut the door on a loan with an option to buy, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Brazil international is almost certain to leave Turin during the summer transfer window following a disappointing first season in Serie A, and angered the Italian side after he failed to show up for pre-season training last month.

Several clubs are showing an interest in the midfielder this summer, but so far Juventus' demands have made a deal difficult to do.

Only open to loan with purchase obligation

Douglas Luiz in action for Juventus

Luiz, who was described as "world-class" by former Villa teammate John McGinn, looks likely to return to the Premier League this month before the transfer window closes, but a move to Everton is looking more and more difficult.

The Toffees are keen to bring Luiz in, with David Moyes a big fan of the player, however, they cannot currently afford Juventus' asking price - which has recently been lowered to £34.9m (€40m).

Everton feel they need the player most and want to get ahead in the race, but Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest are also in talks with Juventus and the player, and GMS sources understand that the player was being pushed towards the City Ground on Friday during discussions.

Forest currently have a lot of options in central midfield though and are deciding whether to progress with a deal considering the terms Juventus are demanding.

Luiz is not in Igor Tudor's plans for the upcoming season and an exit is expected, but Juventus don't want to sell at any price. It's understood that they would not be open to an initial loan deal too, although only if it includes an obligation to buy in the future.

It's understood that Everton are not currently willing to do a deal that includes an obligation to buy, however, they would be open to a loan deal with an option to buy the Brazil international, who earns £155,000-a-week at the Allianz Stadium currently.
