Manchester City are currently working on trimming down Pep Guardiola’s squad before the summer transfer window shuts.
This is the main focus of the Manchester club, as Man City are not expected to sign any more players, having already added six new faces to Pep Guardiola’s ranks.
The easiest way for the Premier League giants to achieve this is with loan deals, with Jahmai Simpson-Pusey joining Celtic and Vitor Reis closing in on a temporary deal to play for Girona throughout the 25/26 campaign.
Manchester City want another of their talents to join the La Liga club ahead of the new season, and the move would be perfect for the youngster.

Man City want Claudio Echeverri to join Girona
Guardiola is a big fan of Claudio Echeverri, which was evident in the amount of faith the legendary coach showed in the 19-year-old by bringing him on in the FA Cup final last season.
It was reported this week that Man City are uncertain about sending Echeverri out on loan for the 25/26 season, as it might be better to keep him in-house to learn from the manager and other forwards such as Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush.

However, the likelihood is that the midfielder Guardiola called “incredible” recently will leave the Manchester club over the coming weeks, with Fabrizio Romano reporting in recent days that City would like the youngster to join Girona for the upcoming season.
“After Vitor Reis, Manchester City also want Claudio Echeverri to join Girona on loan for the season,” Romano wrote on X. “Discussions are ongoing between Echeverri and Girona to make a final decision soon.”

It is believed that Echeverri does not want to join Girona, as the Argentina star wants to play for a club that is competing in the Champions League or Europa League.
Some clubs in the race can provide the 19-year-old with this, but the midfielder should reconsider his view on Girona, as it may be the perfect destination for him to develop.
Girona tick a lot of boxes for Claudio Echeverri
The most important thing in any loan deal is that the player gets minutes, and at Girona, Echeverri is guaranteed this, more so than if the 19-year-old completed a move to Roma.
The youngster would also be joining what many consider the second-best league in the world in a country that also speaks the same language as the midfielder.
This would make it easier for Echeverri to settle in, and as a result, he will have more brain capacity to focus on his football and development.
European football will come for the Man City star further down the line; therefore, the youngster should not even be considering this.
Developing is the most important thing for Echeverri over the coming months, with the aim of breaking into Guardiola’s squad for the 26/27 season.
