The exits continue at Newcastle United this summer, with Isaac Hayden the latest to leave the club.
Hayden, who hasn’t played for Newcastle United at senior level since December 2021, has officially left St James’ Park.
The midfielder was signed by Rafa Benitez in the summer of 2016 and helped the club seal an instant return to the Premier League following their relegation the season before.
In total, the former Arsenal youngster made 171 appearances for Newcastle, scoring seven goals.
After loan spells at Norwich, Standard Liege, QPR and Portsmouth, Newcastle have confirmed the 30-year-old has left the club despite having another year to go on his contract.
He joins Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff as the more high-profile exits this summer, while Alexander Isak could follow amid interest from Liverpool.

The 30-year-old joined the Magpies in 2016 after starting his professional career with Arsenal and, during his time at St. James’ Park, the midfielder made 171 appearances for the club in all competitions.
“Most recently, he spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan with Championship side Portsmouth after spells with Standard Liège and Queens Park Rangers during the last campaign.
“Everyone at the club thanks Isaac for his efforts while with Newcastle United and wishes him well for the future.”
Isaac Hayden’s emotional message to Newcastle United fans
Hayden was a major part of the set-up under Benitez and later Steve Bruce, though obviously lost his place at Newcastle some years ago now.
At this point, an exit is best for all parties, but his contribution to the cause cannot be forgotten.
Indeed, Newcastle may not have been in the position they are now without the contribution of players like Hayden. Had they been relegated quickly after winning promotion from the Championship, the PIF takeover may well never have happened.
His dramatic winner against Chelsea in January 2020 will live long in the memory.
Hayden did not play for Newcastle during a positive time for the club, but clearly enjoyed his time on Tyneside.
Not long after the news of his exit broke, Hayden posted a lengthy message on Instagram.
“Magpies, it’s time to officially say goodbye,” he wrote.
“Although we’ve not seen each other recently I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the support over the years.
“I’ve had some incredible memories wearing the shirt & playing at St James’ Park, I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but the best for the future. Thank you to all the players, coaches & backroom staff I shared my time with at the club. Onto the next chapter.”
