Curtis Jones suggests Livrpool player Jurgen Klopp released for free was actually even better than Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have had some incredible players over the years.

The Reds have always had a good team in the Premier League era, and they came close to winning the title on a few occasions in the past.

However, it was only after Jurgen Klopp’s arrival that they became a force, and the German has many of his players to thank for getting him the success he achieved.

Mohamed Salah is arguably the biggest reason why Liverpool were so good under Klopp, but Curtis Jones actually prefers another player over the Egyptian.

Curtis Jones picks Roberto Firmino over Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

Roberto Firmino is a fan favourite at Liverpool even to this day.

The Brazilian joined the Reds from Hoffenheim in Germany in the summer of 2015, and he went on to become one of the legends of the club.

Firmino played 362 times for Liverpool, scored 111 goals and provided 76 assists in all competitions. He was absolutely brilliant under Klopp and helped the club win seven trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, Firmino and Liverpool decided to part ways, and the attacker was released at the end of his contract then.

It has been a couple of years since his departure, but his impact at the club has not been forgotten – Jones definitely still remembers.

The Englishman was asked to pick between Liverpool legends in a game of Football Knockout on Goal’s social channels.

Steven Gerrard, unsurprisingly, ended up winning the whole thing, but Jones made one big call in the game – he chose Firmino over his current teammate, Salah.

What Mohamed Salah once said about Roberto Firmino explains why he is so loved

Salah is an extremely competitive individual, and he has shown over the years that he wants to be the best at what he does.

However, we’re sure that the Egyptian wouldn’t mind seeing Jones pick Firmino over him because he rates the Brazilian very highly too.

Speaking about Firmino back in 2020, Salah claimed that Liverpool wouldn’t have won the big trophies under Klopp if his mate ‘Bobby’ was not in the side.

He said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “Bobby is a really important player for us. He gave the club four or five years of his best. He has been unbelievable.

“Without him, we couldn’t win the Champions League or Premier League; he sacrificed himself for the team, and the way he plays, he gives us more chances to score.”
