Wolves are preparing for the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season
Wolves are gearing up for their first full season under the guidance of Vitor Pereira. He was picked as their replacement for Gary O’Neil during the last campaign. The Portuguese boss has since made a positive impression in charge at Molinuex.
The Midlands outfit have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer before the end of the transfer window on Monday 1st September. They also have the opportunity to let more players head out the exit door as well if needed. The likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri have already departed for Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.
Wolves could cut ties with striker
Wolves attacker Fabio Silva is facing an uncertain future at the moment. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, he is on the radar of Roma. He is said to be valued at £21million and it remains to be seen at this stage where he will be playing his football in the next campaign.
The striker has also been loaned out in the past to Anderlecht, PSV and Rangers. He is under contract until June 2026 meaning he has just over 12 months left. Wolves risk losing him for nothing if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on an extension anytime soon.
After signing him for Wolves back in 2020, their chairman Jeff Shi said at the time: "Fabio is a young player who shows not only incredible technical ability, but also his game intelligence for a player of his age is top class. Fabio has the potential to be a generational talent and for us to see him develop under Nuno (Espirito Santo) is very exciting. He is the type of player our fans will love."
Who else could leave Wolves?
Wolves forward Hwang hee-Chan has been linked with Birmingham City. The Blues were promoted from League One recently and are now back in the Championship. Goncalo Guedes is reportedly heading for a new challenge at Real Sociedad. The 28-year-old moved over to England back in 2022 and has been loaned out to Benfica and Villarreal in that time. He has also had spells in the past at Benfica, PSG and Valencia.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is on the radar of top flight new boys Burnley and Sunderland, as per The Sun. He was snapped up 12 months ago to add more competition and depth to their goalkeeping position. He is a wanted man now though and may well head out the exit door.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see defenders Dexter Lembikisa and Ki-Jana Hoever depart either. Lembikisa has been on trial at Charlton Athletic, via reporter Louis Mendez on X. Meanwhile, Hoever has been sent out on loan a few times so far in his career and hasn’t managed to make the grade yet.
