Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest have had some beef this summer transfer window and it is safe to say that there is no love lost between the two clubs.
Spurs wanted to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from the Garibaldis and triggered his release clause. Forest retaliated by threatening legal action for the North London club illegally contacting their star player.
The saga dragged on for a few weeks before the player ended up signing a new contract at Nottingham Forest, which led to his transfer to Tottenham falling through. Daniel Levy is a very proud man and unlikely to be someone who would let it slide under the carpet.
Tottenham are out for blood – Forest beware!
Now, as per Team Talk (h/t Give Me Sport), Tottenham are out for blood as they look to seek revenge on Forest by hijacking their move for Manchester City youngster James McAtee. The academy graduate is garnering a lot of interest this summer.
McAtee impressed whenever Pep Guardiola gave him an opportunity last season. However, with so much competition in the attacking midfield positions at Man City, it is almost impossible to see him thrive there.
Thus, it has emerged that the English youngster could follow the Cole Palmer route and move elsewhere. Forest wanted to sign him but with Tottenham now entering the picture, it throws a spanner in the works.

A versatile player tailor-made for Thomas Frank
Chelsea striker Liam Delap, who also came through the academy at City, labelled James McAtee as “unbelievable”. The England U-21 international is valued quite highly by Pep Guardiola’s side and Hugo Viana isn’t going to provide Spurs with any early Christmas presents.
Forest have already seen a £25m bid rejected with Man City wanting close to £40m. A younger alternative to Gibbs-White, should Tottenham hijack the move and get it over the line, they might be signing a talent with an even higher ceiling.
Thomas Frank, during his time at Brentford, showed his desire to have versatile players in his ranks. McAtee would do beautifully to fit into his setup in North London and let’s wait and see if Daniel Levy can get revenge in the coming weeks.
