Man City have made six summer signings so far, adding in goal, defence, midfield and attack.

Pep Guardiola has overseen a busy transfer window so far this summer, with his side making six additions so far with a month of the window left to go. After last year, the City boss was keen to catch up to Arsenal and Liverpool, who have also been making moves.

Furthermore, the departures of Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne handed Guardiola some holes to fill, whereas last year’s injury problems have also forced the City boss to prioritise adding more depth all across the pitch.

As the new season draws closer, we decided to rate each of Man City’s signings so far, to see just how successful Guardiola’s transfer window has been...

Rating Man City’s new summer signings

Tijani Reijnders - 8/10: There is no doubting that Reijnders is one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe, and he will help to fill the void that De Bruyne left. Reijnders will likely play a consistent role in Guardiola’s midfield due to his ability to both control possession and create chances moving forward. He certainly isn’t the most exciting of City’s signings, but there is no doubt that he could prove to be the best, especially considering that he has some big shoes to fill following De Bruyne’s departure.

Rayan Ait-Nouri - 6/10: The Wolves left-back is a good player, let’s start by saying that. He is very comfortable on the ball, and is also able to provide both goals and assists. Last season, he scored four goals and seven assists in the Premier League. However, City’s biggest weakness last year was their defence, and that is where Ait-Nouri lacks slightly. He is a very competent defender, but seeing as City need more solidity at the back, a more defensive full-back may have been a better choice.

Rayan Cherki - 9/10: City signed Cherki from Lyon, and it was somewhat of a coup considering that a lot of the top Premier League clubs had been interested in the French winger, as he is a real difference-maker on the ball and an exciting player to watch. Last season, he made 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists, and considering that he is just 21, the French international is only going to get better. He could become a world-class Premier League star in years to come.

Sverre Nypan - 7/10: Nypan was a young player with a lot of interest in the Premier League. He was linked with Arsenal and Aston Villa, but it was Man City who managed to land the 18-year-old, and they paid just £13m for the privilege. He has been compared to Martin Odegaard, and if he fulfils the potential that he’s known for, it will turn out to be an excellent piece of business.

How Man City’s summer transfer business has been rated

James Trafford - 8/10: One of the biggest talking points for City was that Ederson needed to be replaced in the future. It seems the 33-year-old will be at the Etihad next year, but he will have some tough competition from Trafford. City paid their buy-back clause on the 22-year-old, which amounted to just £27m, a fantastically low fee considering that last season at Burnley, Trafford conceded just 16 goals in 45 league games, he also managed to keep 29 clean sheets. The 22-year-old will be City’s future goalkeeper for many years to come.

Marcus Betinelli - 5/10: Betinelli was signed simply as a third-string goalkeeper to replace Scott Carson, who left Man City after a spell of six years as a reserve stopper for Guardiola. Betinelli will play a simlar depth and mentor role, he could be a big help to Trafford too.
