‘Understand…’ - Rasmus Hojlund Stance on Leaving Man Utd for RB Leipzig Revealed

Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly unwilling to join RB Leipzig as Manchester United continue to hold talks with the Bundesliga giants for Benjamin Sesko.

talkSPORT's Alex Crook reports that Leipzig are keen on Hojlund as a possible replacement for Sesko amid the Red Devils' pursuit of the Slovenian. The 22-year-old is the club's top target to bolster Ruben Amorim's frontline this summer.

Newcastle United have made a £70m offer for Sesko to try and beat their Premier League rivals to the player's signature. This has put the pressure on Manchester United to come up with a bid of their own, although a swap deal involving Hojlund could have been on the cards.

Hojlund has endured a difficult spell at Manchester United since arriving from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 for £72m. The Danish frontman has struggled in front of goal, managing just four Premier League goals last season.

The 22-year-old has three years left on his contract but his future has been uncertain amid speculation growing over INEOS looking to move him on if a new striker arrives this summer. Their interest in Sesko had fuelled talk of a possible exchange but he isn't prepared to join the Bundesliga outfit.

Crook wrote on X:

"Understand Leipzig are interested in Rasmus Hojlund as a potential Sesko replacement, but the (Manchester United) striker has made it clear he does not want to go there."

Hojlund made clear this was his stance after netting in his side's 4-1 win over Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly on Thursday (July 31). He told reporters that he wanted to "stay and fight", a stance that he is reiterating behind closed doors.

This could have implications for United's move for Sesko, as they will need to beat Newcastle to his signature and can't use Hojlund as a makeweight. A £70m fee doesn't feel plausible for the club's current budget, and they may now need the Slovenia international to make an Old Trafford switch, his preference.
