Man United are in the race for Benjamin Sesko with Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

However, Sesko is expected to cost upwards of £60m, and after United signed both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for over £60m, it could be tough for them to afford Sesko without making a number of player sales this summer.

Man United should sign Serhou Guirassy if Benjamin Sesko deal falls through

Instead, the Red Devils should look at a Bundesliga striker who has gone completely under the radar this summer, with clubs looking to sign a number nine. Serhou Guirassy plays for Borussia Dortmund, and, unknown to many, he was the top scorer in the Champions League last season.

The 29-year-old scored 13 goals in 14 games in the European competition, beating out the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe. Furthermore, on top of his 13 in the Champions League, Guirassy scored 21 goals in 30 Bundesliga games and four in five Club World Cup games.

He is a prolific goal scorer who has a lot of pace, and could help create an electric attack alongside the likes of Cunha and Mbeumo in Amorim’s front line next season. Furthermore, the Dortmund striker has an estimated market value of under £40m, making him a much cheaper alternative to Sesko and Watkins.

Has there been any transfer interest in Guirassy this summer?

The most surprising thing about Guirassy is that there hasn’t been a wave of transfer interest in the Dortmund striker this summer, considering just how good he was last year, and how cheap he could be compared to other targets.

According to a report by German outlet Bild in May, PSG held an interest in Guirassy as a replacement for Randal Kolo Muani, who is expected to leave the French capital this summer following a loan spell with Juventus last year.

However, since then, any reports of a move for the 29-year-old have gone quiet, meaning that if United were to make a bid for the Dortmund star, they wouldn’t have much competition in the way of rival teams bidding for him. It seems a no-brainer if they miss out on Sesko.
