Sunday's pre-season clash against Newcastle United represents our ninth match in South Korea over five visits since 2005.
Suwon hosted our first game here on 16 July, 2005 as part of the Peace Cup where we lined up alongside Lyon, PSV, Real Sociedad, Boca Juniors, Once Caldas (Colombia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) and local side Seognam Ilhwa.
We were last in Seoul this time last year with two matches against Team K League and FC Bayern.
Don't forget we kick-off against Newcastle at 12noon UK time on Sunday - **[and you can watch live on SPURSPLAY.](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2025/july/how-to-watch-spurs-vs-newcastle-on-sunday/)**
_Here's the rundown of our matches in Korea..._
2005
----
We kicked-off the Peace Cup with a 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors before beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1, both matches in Suwon. A 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in Ulsan took us through to the final - our first match in Seoul - where we toppled Lyon 3-1.
16.07.2005 - Spurs 2-2 Boca Juniors (Defoe, Mido)18.07.2005 - Spurs 3-1 Sundowns (Keane 2, Kanoute)21.07.2005 - Spurs 1-1 Real Sociedad (Mido)
24.07.2005 - Spurs 3-1 Lyon (Keane 2, OG)
We next visited Korea on a promotional tour at the end of the 2016/17 campaign with Kyle Walker, Ben Davies and Kevin Wimmer accompanying home hero Heung-Min Son, who had signed for us two years earlier.
2022
----
It was goals galore in our opener in 2022 - a 6-3 goal fest against Team K League - no surprises that the dynamic duo of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son scored two goals each in front of 64,100 fans at Seoul's World Cup Stadium. Harry struck again a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Coupang Play Series at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.
13.07.2022 - Team K League 3-6 Spurs (Kane 2, Son 2, Dier, OG)
16.07.2022 - Sevilla 1-1 Spurs (Kane)
We were back in Korea last year - again, it was goals galore against Team K League - 4-3 this time - before a 2-1 loss against FC Bayern - including Eric Dier, but not Harry Kane - in the Coupang Play Series.
31.07.2024 - Team K League 3-4 Spurs (Son 2, Kulusevski, Lankshear)
03.08.2024 - FC Bayern 2-1 Spurs (Spence)
We last played Newcastle United in friendly action in a post-season match at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. Almost 80,000 fans turned out at Melbourne's iconic MCG, where James Maddison opened the scoring, Alexander Isak equalised and then the Toon came out 5-4 winners on penalties - Bryan Gil's spot-kick saved by Mark Gillespie as Newcastle slotted home five out of five.
22.05.2024 - Spurs 1-1 Newcastle (Maddison)
